Fire season runs from March through June

Florida’s fire season typically starts when cold fronts start entering the region without precipitation. This trend usually starts in March and the wildfire season can last through June, until development of daily sea breeze thunderstorms.

Both mowing and prescribed burning can reduce ‘fuel’ for the wildfires. It is recommended that there is a 30 foot zone around a home that is free of vegetation- this can help reduce fire risks. Each year, thousands of acres burn in the state. Around 90% of the wildfires are stated by humans through escaped burns & arsons.
