Preview of the 2021 Hurricane Season

The 2021 hurricane season will begin on June 1st and end on November 30th. Preseason indicators point towards the year being another active season. During a normal season, 12 named storms form and 6 go on to become hurricanes. Eventually, during an average season, 3 of the 6 hurricanes go on to become major cyclones, with winds of at least 115 mph.

The first forecast for the season will be issued by Colorado State University on Thursday, April 8th and NOAA's will follow about a month later. A 2021 pre-season preview has already been released by CSU. The combination of a warm Atlantic and a weak La Nina are just two of a multitude of influences that will help keep the Atlantic busier than average.
