Can cold weather make you sick?


Can cold weather lead to spreading of illnesses? Yes. Research suggests that when your body is cold, it might reduce the body’s abilities to fight certain virus. The lack of sunshine, or vitamin d, can also lead to a weak immune system. Dry air can also allow the virus to spread easier, during the winter months.

Because of the winter, the flu season usually peaks sometime between December and March. The overall impacts of the flu vary from season to season. There are several actions you can take to prevent the spread of germs.

  • Limit contact with others when sick
  • Wash your hands often
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  • Clean & disinfect surfaces
