Florida No Stranger to Fog

Fog can occur at any time of the year but is most common during the month of November and densest fog is most likely during January.

Jacksonville averages around 36 dense fog days a year. In Florida, three types of fog are dominant.

Steam Fog- forms when cooler air slides over a body of water

Advection Fog- moist, warm air flows over the cooler land (typical around coastal areas). Common during the late fall months.

Radiation Fog- most common type of fog. Forms when the air cools to around the dew point and the humidity reaches near the saturation point.

Here are some tips while driving in fog:

-Slow down and allow extra time

-Never use your high-beam lights

-Leave extra distance between you and the vehicle in front of you
