Change in Daylight Means a Change in Watering Restrictions

Most residents of Northeast Florida are impacted by water restrictions that’ll be in place through the first week of November. The restrictions limit the number of days residential properties can water their lawn and landscaping. The restrictions are meant to help conserve the St. Johns River basin’s water supply. On average 565.5 million gallons of water is used in Northeast Florida and the majority of that goes to irrigation.

Homes with an address that ends in an odd number or locations without a numerical address may water on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Addresses that end in an even number may water on Thursdays and Sundays. Non-residential addresses are permitted to water on Tuesdays and Fridays. It is advised that you water before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m. Watering outside of the times when direct sunlight is the fullest helps reduce waste through evaporation.
